Visits, Workshops, and Events

Writing Workshops

I love to teach and am an engaging speaker. I’ve taught writing classes at the Storymakers conference in Provo, Utah in 2017 and 2018 to rave reviews. My classes, blog posts, and tweets about theme have gained attention from many in the writing and writing craft community. I would love to come and present at your writing conference. My favorite topics include:

Infusing Your Story With Theme: How Planning With Theme Creates Something Timeless

The Need for Sad Books in Middle Grade

How To Write About Tough Topics in Middle Grade

Characteristics of Classic Middle Grade

Reaching Gatekeepers

School Visits

I have experience teaching creative writing classes and would love to bring my excitement and expertise to your classroom! Using enthusiasm, a ukelele, and my own illustrated sidekick, I can talk to your kids about all aspects of being an author.

Some of my favorite topics to talk to kids about are:

The Revision Process

Turning an Idea into a Story

The Rules All Writers Should Know

How To Be An Author

I would also love to talk to classrooms about topics in my upcoming debut. Specifically about making friends, being kind, and creating an environment of “Everyday Magic.”

If your class has read THE THREE RULES OF EVERYDAY MAGIC, or just would like to talk with an author, I do free 20-30 minute Skype visits.
