I grew up in the mountain desert of southwest Wyoming with a library right out my back gate. I can still walk into that library today and feel totally at home.
Today I live in central California, where the miles and miles of orchards and farmland never seem to end, the summers are excruciatingly hot, and the winters are foggy and green.
I never thought I was a writer growing up. The need to write never tugged at me much except for the occasional obligatory angsty poem. But one night the words to a picture were running through my head and wouldn’t let me sleep until I wrote them down. So I did. And that was the beginning of an addiction, a hunger, a dream. The beginning of creating, destroying, and then creating all over again. The beginning of hearing those voices in my head. The beginning of actually following all those what if questions. The beginning of really opening up that creative well that I never knew was inside me.
Insomnia’s never been so life changing. 🙂
Now I write middle grade novels and am represented by Elizabeth Harding of Curtis Brown LTD. My debut novel, THE THREE RULES OF EVERYDAY MAGIC will be published by Boyds Mills Press in the fall of 2018.
In addition to writing, I enjoy playing the piano, knitting, reading, homeschooling my children, playing board games and eating kale.
Seriously.
